Vanilla Almond Granola

I can never justify purchasing granola at the grocery store when I know just how easy it is to make at home. This takes five minutes to throw together and 20 minutes to bake, and makes the perfect on-the-go snack or topping for your smoothie bowl/greek yogurt! There’s also a lot of different variations of the base recipe or add-ins you can try, but I love the simple combination of vanilla and almond. Plus, it has way less sugar per serving (only 5 grams) than a lot of the store-bought brands.

For comparison, Nature Valley Cranberry Almond Granola has 14g (!) of sugar per serving.

Nature Valley

Enjoy this homemade, crunchy goodness!

Ingredients: 

  • 1/2 cup whole, rolled oats (not quick oats)
  • 1/4 cup roughly chopped almonds
  • ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • a pinch of salt
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 1 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • ¼ teaspoon almond extract

Instructions: 

Mix all ingredients together in a bowl, assuring the oats are coated by the honey/oil. Place on a parchment lined baking sheet in a single layer, and bake in a 300 degree oven for 20 minutes. Make sure to stir the oats halfway through baking.

Remove from oven and cool completely on the stovetop. Store granola in an airtight container for up to a week!
